Why Donald Trump is Popular
As Donald Trump’s popularity continues to climb, one wonders why he appeals to so many Americans of diverse backgrounds. One argument from some ardent supports is that a success businessman like Trump is needed to run the country. Though it does seem superficially like a cogent argument, one speculates why the government should be in business in the first place. Can anyone name any successful business venture they manage? Amtrak, Social Security, Healthcare and the VA are but some of the most obvious programs that are woefully inadequate. Plus, if a private businessman could do better than the government, why are programs such as the ones previously mentioned not placed into the free market where businessmen can run them? (This argument was well articulated by Mike Church during his morning show on Sirius/XM). In addition, does being a successful businessman translate into being a successful president? I don’t know.
Another reason people support Trump is his ability to openly fight the PC police. Americans are tired of the same politically correct jargon spewed out from the political candidates and force fed to us by the media every day. Americans are discouraged by the stories of so many citizens that are politically and economically ruined if they find themselves at odds with the system. The draw in Trump is that he fights back. He says what he thinks, and openly attacks the bastion of PC dogma- the mainstream media. Many find it refreshing to hear someone actually speak his mind and fully flex their First Amendment Rights. They also find it refreshing to hear someone articulate issues that are seemingly ignored by the political class such as illegal immigration, crimes committed by illegal immigrants, a southern wall, the trade inequalities with China, and a balanced budget.
Donald Trump is also a political outsider. He is not part of what Senator Cruz calls the Washington Cartel. As we have seen after the last election, no matter how many Republicans we vote into office, or how many branches of government the Republicans control, no positive change is being undertaken. People feel as if their vote doesn’t count. No matter who goes into office, the same outcome will emerge: bigger government, more rules, more regulations and less economic growth. Thus, many Americans believe that the only way to fix Washington is to bring an outsider like Trump into this city.
Lastly and most importantly, I believe people are attracted to Trump because he is simply entertaining. No matter how you feel about the man, he can bring in ratings. Americans love entertainment, and thus many simply love Donald Trump as a result.
Will his appeal lead him into the White House? Time will tell.
To ensure years of unbridled Democratic rule and the creation of a progressive nanny state, Obama is utilizing funds appropriate by the misnamed Affordable Care Act (ACA) to lure both legal and illegal immigrants onto the government doll. By utilizing a Spanish speaking TV network Univision, Obama is using taxpayer appropriated dollars funded by the ACA to promote Obamacare to Spanish speaking people.
Worse yet, Obama is also spending our ACA appropriated money on ads televised by Univision that remind illegals to renew their Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) permits before they expire. This executive action signed by Obama with his infamous pen allows immigrant minors brought into the country illegally to stay another two years.
Those with any foresight can clearly understand what plan our unscrupulous president is attempting to undertake. With fiat amnesty around the corner after the election and more dependents on the government doll, it will ensure the Democratic Party millions upon millions of votes in upcoming elections. It will fundamentally change America and eradicate the country we know. The American dream we were taught will be no more. A land of dependency, mediocrity and adherence to the UN and a global government will begin.
As a registered Republican, I have come to the conclusion that my vote does not seem to count. In fact, it almost appears that no matter who I vote into office, nothing changes. Thought this statement may seem facetious, there remains much truth within it.
Unfortunately, the Republican establishment has usurped both the political party and the will of the people. John Boehner, Karl Rove, and Mitch McConnell have become drunk on their power and see fit to run the entire party as they please. No longer will they let the elected representative pursue the agenda to which they were voted into office. Instead, they are forced to comply with the political party’s agenda mandated by these tyrants who run the party. It’s their way or the highway. Time and time again, I have witnessed Republicans capitulate to their will and vote in accordance with their mandates. Just look at how the establishment has treated the Tea Party and mocked their attempts to make targeted political changes. Remember what happened when they attempted to shut down the government to make a statement about Obamacare? Also, remember all those so-called Republicans who voted not to repeal it?
Now, the House Republican establishment wants to change the rules so that any member who votes against the party’s nominee as speaker will be stripped of all their power. This is absurd? How will any meaningful change ever take place in the party? How will new ideas come to fruition?
The bottom line is that the leaders of the Republican Party seem to have lost touch with the American people. No matter who they put up for president, they lose, and no matter who such people as Rove and McConnell support (such as in Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Montana, New Mexico, and Wisconsin in 2012) all get beat by a large margin.
The John Boehners, Karl Roves, Mitch McConnell, and John McCains of the party are leading the country into disaster. The only thing they can accomplish is to solidify and grow their own power. They have perverted the party and are destroying the country in the process. As our country continues to implode, her epitaph will surely bear their names.
